BITTERLY COLD IN THE SOUTH*
-[By Telegraph—Press Association.] Christchurch, last night. Though not much rain has fallen today, the weather remains bitterly cold, with an overcast sky. The rain on Friday and Saturday put a stop to harvesting operations, and a considerable amount of damage -Wat dorte to standing crops. In some parts of'the district ' rust hast has become common, and reports from North Canterbury state- that spoils'- of' wet and fine weather have caused the grain in stock to sprout, . '
