A speeial meeting of the Borough Council was held last night to decide the day on which to hold the half-holiday during the ensuing year. The Mayor and Crs Hepburn, Joyce. Lewis, and Jones were present. The Mayor proposed a special resolution to adopt the ordinary day, Thursday. Cr Joyceseconded the motion. Cr Jones i What about the Factories Act. are you not embodying that ? The Town Clerk : That is by speeial order; it stands until it is revoked,_ The motion was agreed to unanimously, without discussion. Custom has caused the old battle of Thursday v. Saturday to give way t<j_ peace ■ on the subject*
