Mr Sheldon is preaching a new crusade at Topeka in favor of mistresses treating servants with equality as daughters. During his address thirty ladies rose and strenuously protested. THE BLIZZARD. St. Petersburg, Jan. 16. The survivors of the snowstorm at Ruzdelneara have been rescued.
SMALL-POX SCARE. New York, Jan. 16. One million persons were vaccinated in New York during the past month, owing to a small-pox epidemic. TROUBLES IN CHINA. London, January 16. Lord George Hamilton is inquiring into the grounds of allegations of atrocities brought against international troops in China. Pive million people are suffering from starvation in the Shensi province. The Chinese envoys have' affixed the Imperial seal to the joint note of the Powers fixing a basis of a settlement of the difficulty.
