COMMAND OP THE SIXTH CONTINGENT.
ADVANCE IN VALUE OP PROPERTY.
[By Telegraph—Press Association.] Auckland, last night. Lieut.-Colonel Banks left for Wellington by the Mapourika this afternoon, to take over the command of the Sixth Contingent’s camp at Wellington. Evidence of way that Queen street property has advanced in value during the past three years is shown by the fact that the premises known as the “ Old Mill” have just been sold for £IB,OOO. The property has a frontage to Queen street of 90ft, and a depth of 130 ft, with a connection to the lane at the back. During the boom three years ago tho" Auckland Stock Exchange Company purchased the property for £12,000, the idea being to erect a new exchange. That project having now been abandoned, the property has been disposed of at a profit of £6OOO.
