GISBOENE v. HAWKE’S BAY.
[by telegraph—pbess association.] Napier, yesterday, The Poverty Bay v. combined team match was resumed at 11 o’clock, in perfect weather, and with the wicket playing very true. Lusk and Burke carried the local team’s-score to 270 before the latter was caught by Gibson, Lusk being 117 not out. Hussey secured three ■of the wickets for 72, Ludbrook two for 40, Gibson two for 67, and Bees two for 55.

Gisborne opened with Hussey and Ludbrook. Hussey made 60 by brilliant crickot, Ludbrook 67, Vincent 33. Lusk was the best bowler. Hawke's Bay, wanting 148 to win', were dismissed for 129, Lusk 59. Hussey’s bowling was splendid, four for 13, and caused the downfall of the home team. The fielding of the Gisborne team was magnificent.
THE CANTERBURY-AUCKLAND MATCH. [By Telegraph—Press Association.] Christchuroh, last night. There is beautiful weather for the Canter-bury-Auckland match.. Auckland won the toss, and decided to go in. Mills stood out of the Auckland team, owing to his hand being injured in Dunedin. His place was filled by Stephons. W. Stemson and D. Hay opened to Calloway, Stemson with a maiden, and Hay drove to leg two off Robertson, and scoring commenced. Stemson, b Calloway 24 Ohlsen, b ( ‘Robertson 13 Marshall, b Calloway 1 Hay, hit wicket .. 37 Elliott, c Boxall, b Calloway .. .. 4 McCormick, lbw .. ~ ~ .. 11 H. B. Lusk, c Robertson .. .. .. 4 W. Mills, c Boxhall, b Calloway .. 4 Stephens, stumped, b Robertson .. 9 In the sixth over Stemson, letting out at one from Calloway, succumbed ; 24—1—13. Ohlson took his place, and hit the last ball off the fourteenth over to leg for four off Robertson, and repeated the performance off a drive from Calloway in the seventeenth over. Shortly after he was bowled off the pad by Robertson ; 48—3—12. Ohlson’s place was taken by Marshall. Hay continued scoring well, and Marshall was bowled by Calloway; 65—3—1. Elliott came in, and Hay was dismissed through a hitwicket off Robertson, 75—4—37, H. B. Lusk filled the vacancy. Elliott, who was left, was caught by Boxhall, bowled by Calloway; 77—5—4. McCormick was the next man. H. B. Lusk skied one, and was caught off Robertson; 85—6—4. N. B. Lusk came next, and made a merry game of it till McCormick went down leg beforo; 121—7—11. W. Mills followed, but soon retired, caught Boxhall, bowled Calloway; 135—8—4. Stephens followed. At the luncheon adjournment Lusk was 46, Stephens 5, both not out. Extras, 18. Total to date, 157. On resuming, runs steadily increased till Stephens was stumped to Robertson; 183—9—9. Resteaux followed.
