CHATHAM CUP TO EDEN AFTER EXTRA TIME IN FINAL
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 4. Nearly 1 1,000 spectators saw Eden beat Technical Old Boys, Christchurch, at the Basin Reserve, Wellington and win the Chatham Cup on Saturday after extra time had been played. .Their success was due to superior stamina in the extra time. Eden were in the ascendent for the greater part. It was the first occasion for 12 years that a Wellington club team had not participated in the final, but there was an excellent crowd. Technical looked the better team in the first spell, their positional play being superior, but they were unable to head their opponents, the score being oneall at the interval. In the second spell, Eden showed better understanding and greater speed on to the ball. They went into the lead from a penalty, but Technical equalised and the scores were two-all at the bell. i In the extra time Technical had a chance from a penalty, but the goalkeeper saved. Eden held the upper hand from then on and netted after a grand movement. G. Addis, J. Jakens and D. Brewer scored for Eden. C. Thomas and J. MacLennan scored for Technical.
