WELLINGTON, Aug. 23. ‘•We feel certain that the battle for equal pay for equal work will be won in the .not too distant future,” said the advocate for the New Zealand Clothing Trade Employees and Allied Unions, Mr. J. Roberts, in the Arbitration Court yesterday. He said that under the current award female machinists received £4 lGs weekly, while a man on the same work received £7 14s 4d. Mr. Roberts sought an increase of 9s weekly for journeywomen and made other submissions which related in the main to what he called “the battle for monetary recognition of the skill of clothing trade operatives.”
