SHIP RACING TO SICK DOCTOR ON HEARD ISLAND
SYDNEY. July 24.
The freighter Perthshire is now in direct radio contact with Heard Island to which she is racing in order to offer assistance to Dr. Serge UdovikofT who has appendicitis. Two doctors aboard are advising expedition members on the island how to treat the condition. The latest report is that Dr. Udovikoff has not operated on himself and that an abdominal abscess has formed, minimising the danger to his life.
