Cominform Leaders Meet Russian Chief

BERLIN, July 24

The five-day third annual convention of the Russian-backed Socialist Unity Party which rules the Russian occupation zone and Soviet East Berlin has been attended by Russia’s M. Mikhail Suslov, secretary of the central committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, Italy’s Signor Palmiro Togliatti and M. Francis Jacques Duclos.

Their presence indicates that at least an informal meeting o£ the Cominform is being staged. The Cominform nas not met since last December in Hungary and European Communist Party heads are believed to be getting from M. Suslov the Kremlin’s instructions about Korea, intensification of the fight against Titoism and information on whatever may be Moscow’s next pressure point against the West.
