RECOVERY BY SANDS TO CLAIM DRAW WITH JENKINS

AUCKLAND, July 23.

In a sensational fight in the Auckland Town Hall last night the Australian aborigine, Clem Sands, lOst. G 1 lb. floored Jackie* Jenkins, lOst. 61b, of Auckland, eight times in 10 rounds, but could still only earn a draw. The final gong rang as Jenkins was knocked flat on hia back from a terrific rightcross.

The Aucklander was down six times in the last three rounds. Jenkins ripped away with both hands to the body to build up a big lead on points in the early rounds. By the seventh round Sands looked sick. Then Jenkins walked Into a short right to the jaw which dropped him.

He rolled over and tried to rise, but sank back to the door and the gong saved him at the count of six. From then on, although he was weary, Sands slammed over his vicious right again and again and the house was in an uproar in the final rounds.
