Hormone Injections May Cure Drag Addicts And Alcoholics
NEW YORK, June 2.
Hormone injections could cure alcoholism and drug addiction, two New York physicians claimed today. Dr. Harold Lovell and Dr. John Tintere reported that their researches showed alcoholics and drug addicts suffered from lazy or impaired adrenal glands which apparently did not produce enough of the hormones that came from the outer covering (cortex) of the adrenal glands. Injections of adrenal cortical extract overcame that lack, they added. Hormone injections “eliminate the torturing drying-out period in alcoholism and lessen significantly the recurrent craving for alcohol.”
