PROPOSED AIR SERVICE.—“There is no reason why the Melbourne-Hare-wood air service should not operate as soon as Ilarewood is declared an overseas terminal on December 18,” said the Minister in charge of Civil Aviation, Mr. W. S. Goosman, on his return to Wellington on Saturday from the meeting of the South Pacific Air Transport Council in Melbourne. Mr. Goosman added that the Government had yet to decide by whom and how the service would be operated and the necessary frequency which would be flown. PRIMARY EDUCATION.—A real demand existed for a more solid type of primary school education which would give due heed to spiritual values and the right relationship between work and play, the Minister of Education, Mr. R. M. Algie, said in Dunedin after spending five days in Southland. The Minister said that while in Southland he had many opportunities of discussing with members of boards and committees tendencies and effects of modern trends in primary school education.
