MRS. C. CARMICHAEL

OBITUARY

The death occurred at the Cook Hospital on Saturday of Mrs. Janet. Carmichael, 16 Bloomfield Road, whose gradual decline in health over the past two years had caused much distress to her many friends.

Mrs. Carmichael was born in Edinburgh. and was married in Glasgow to Mr. Colin Carmichael. They came to New Zealand 35 years ago and settled immediately in Gisborne, wnere they found a community of former Glasgow people well established, Mr. Carmichael became well-known as a skilled blacksmith, and was in business for many years in Gladstone Road. ’ Devoted to her hpme interests and a consistent member of the Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Carmichael nevertheless found time to make many friends, whose sympathy will be extended to her husband and members of her family, comprising Mr. Colin Carmichael, jun.. Pntutahi. and Mr. William Carmichael, Gisborne. Mrs, R. Cameron, Repongaere, and Mrs. W. McCullough, Makauri. There are 25 grandchildren.

The burial took place at the Tarn heru Cemetery, today, following a ser vice' at Cochrane’s chapel.
