Marshall Sets World Record In 220yds. Swim
NEW YORK, March 31. The Australian. John Marshall, today broke the world record for the 220 yards freestyle swim. His time was 2min. 6.4 sec. He broke the record of 2min. 7.lsec. set' by Bill Smith, of America, in 1944. Marshall gained the record in winning by 10 yards his heat in the National Amateur Athletic Union championships at Newhaven, Connecticut.
