FREE SERVICING OF ELECTRIC RANGES

A decision not to extend the board's scheme for free servicing of ranges beyond accepting new makes acceptable under the scheme was made by the P.B. Electric-Power Board at its latest meeting on the motion of Mr. B. J. Holdsworth.

A joint report brought down by the managing-secretary, Mr. R. P. Baigent, and the engineer. Mr. F. Matthewson, stated that if the scheme were extended another vehicle and extra staff would be required. In view of the costs involved they were not able to recommend an extension of the scheme, and considered that it should be continued on its present basis until such time as ail electricity restx-ictions were removed when perhaps further considei-ation could be given to the matter. The board agreed to add to the scheme only new makes acceptable under the scheme until standard specifications were brought down for other makes.
