Win For H. J. Toye In Gisborne Chess Club Championships

Owing to the postponement of some matches the Gisborne Chess Club championship was not completed last season. By defeating F. J, Butler in iheir second match last week H. J. Toye secured an excellent score of five wins and only one loss to win the championship title. D. Cranswick gained a rung on the ladder from Beamish by default. In addition to three matches to be played by April 12. Day is to play Butler by April 19. No ladder matches were played during the week, members confining themselves to friendly games in which a local visitor joined on Wednesday.

The second monthly pick-up tourney takes place next Wednesday, the drawbeing at 7.45 p.m.
