County Clerkship To Mr. R.F. Morgan : Back To The Coast
From among a large number of applicants, the Waiapu County Council has appointed Mr. Raymond Francis Morgan to fill the vacancy in the county clerkship occasioned by the resignation of Mr. J. H. Sutherland. On taking up his new appointment Mr. Morgan will be returning to familiar ground, for he was assistant clerk to the Waiapu County Council for 2i years prior to taking up his present post as assistant-clerk to the Whakatanc County and assistant-secre-tary to the Whakatane Harbour Board.
Born in this district, Mr. Morgan was for 13 years on the staff of the Maori Affairs Department, and while thus engaged gained a wide knowledge of East Coast people and their affairs. He resigned from the department to go to the Waiapu County Council, and later took up the post he now holds at Whakatane. Mr. Sutherland, who has been with the Waiapu County as clerk since his discharge from the R.N.Z.A.F. in 1945, has accepted an appointment as clerk to the Waipa County at Te Awamutu.
