MR. C. H. COOPER ELECTED PLANNING COUNCIL CHAIRMAN
Two nominations were received for the office of chairman of the GisborneEast Coast Regional Planning Council at its meeting in Gisborne yesterday. Last year there also were two nominations and each candidate received the same number of votes. The same extraordinary position ruled at today’s meeting when last year’s chairman, Mr. E. 11. Barker, and Mr. C. H. Cooper received an equal number of votes. Mr. Cooper was elected chairman by lot. Mr. D. E. Chrisp was elected deputy chairman. The following were elected to the executive committee: Mr. E. H. Baker, representing Cook County Council; Mr. C. 11. Cooper, Federated Farmers; Mr. B S Bree, 30,000 Club: Mr. R. A. A. Law,' Rehab. Dept.: Mr. J. G. Appleton Waikohu County Council: Mr. W. Harnct Trades and Labour Council: Dr. A L Singer, Gisborne Borough Council; Mr. 11. C. Hanes. Gisborne Chamber of Commerce; Mr. R. C. Murphy, P.B. Catchment Board; Mr. D. \\. W. \\ tlliams Waiapu County Council: Mr. H. r Irving, Uawa County Council; Mr. R. G Clare, Gisborne Harbour Board; Mr. D. E. Chrisp, Matakaoa County Council: and a representative of the Gisborne Junior Chamber of Commerce.
