‘EUROPEAN CRIME,’ SAYS IRISH ENVOY
(11 a.m.) NEW YORK, March 30. Ireland's first Ambassadar to the United States declared yesterday that partition of Ireland . was a. longstanding “European crime” which, he hoped, would be settled during his term. The Ambassador, Mr. John Hearne, was speaking to pressmen during a brief halt on his way to Washington to take up his new post. Mr. Hearne, when asked whether he would request the support of the American Government for ending partition, said: “I would ask it'of the American Government and American people every day of my life, even if I were not Ambassador.” . He said there was no feeling against any British Parliamentarian and especially against British peoples over partition.
