A large number of parents gathered at the Awapuni School on Tuesday evening to give enthusiastic support to the formation of a Home and School Association. After the headmaster, Mr. C. S. Wood, had spoken of the functions of the home and the school, and of the need for an organisation linking the two, Mr W. H Fraser, chairman of the School Committee, moved the formation of the association. The officers elected were: —President, Mr. C. S. Wood, secretary, Mrs. Morgan: treasurer. Mrs. A Mines; committee. Mrs Ross. Mrs Cairns, Messrs. M. Led" 0 , J Dowell, Deere, with two members of the teaching staff and one memoer of the school committee.
Meetings are to be held monthly, and a member of the stall is to speak on a school subject, at the next meeting on April 24, while written questions on anv school matter are to be invited. The keen interest shown augurs well for the future success of the association.
