A feature of the carnival was the high standard reached in the diving events. Interest has been exceptionalls- keen' and because of the increased number of entries it was decided that in future the juniors be divided into three classes. A. B and novice grades. At the week-end the Hawke's Bay swimming champions, Miss Hodges and Boardman will be giving coaching lessons to swimmers and l-he coaching panel of both swimming clubs. Miss Hodges and Boardman both had tuition at the coaching school last season at Christchurch. There they represented the Hawke s Bay Swimming Centre, and this is their first opportunity of passing on to roer.r swimmers the knowledge they gained of the latest and modern methods of coaching and training. Both showed the benefit of their experience at the Hawke’s Bav championships last season by improved performances when thev easily accounted for their opponents. This coaching so carlv in the season should improve the local standard of swimming, and good attendant-;*, of local club members can be confidently expected.
