Gaolbreaker Heard "The Cup"

SYDNEY, Nov. 2. The police had little trouble in locating a prisoner who escaped from a working party at' Long Bay gaol shortly before Melbourne Cnp time yesterday. They traced the man to a hotel in the suburb of Gladesville, where he had bought a beer and was settling down to listen to the Cup broadcast in comfort.

The prisoner was at first reluctant to “come quietly,” but obliged on learning that he was to be taken to headquarters in a police wireless patrol car. He listened to the Cup broadcast over the police radio system while in transit.
