SCOUT CHALLENGE FOR ROWING CUP: TAURANGA RACING

Present holders of the Dominion championships for open and junior rowing events, members of the Takitimu Sea Scout Group have entered a challenge for the Washbourn Cup, a trophy representing the premier award in senior Sea Scout rowing. A party of six Sea Scouts of the group, with two scoutmasters, left for Tauranga this morning, to contest the cun with the present holders .a crew from the Katikati group, in a regatta on the Tauranga harbour today. The party consists of the group scoutmaster, Mr. J. Duigan, .and the scoutmaster of the senior troop, Mr. K. Redstone, with Sea Scouts B. Kay, R. Robb. J. Stiehbury, E. Adams, R. Purcell and D. Newick. They will be billeted by Tauranga Sea Scouts.

Keen practice in their standard scout boat has prepared the Gisborne boys for a tough race, which is starred in the programme of a general regatta on the Tauranga water.
