QUIST RETAINS HARDCOURT TITLE

SYDNEY. Sept. 5.

Playing a dour baseline game the 36-year-old Davis Cup veteran, Adrian Quist. won the Australian hard court singles title for the third successive year.

He defeated 25-year-old Geoff Brown 4-G, 8-6, 0-4,6-0. by keeping control of the match after he regained it in the second set.

The women’s singles title went to Mrs. K. Hawton.

The 14-year-o'd schoolboy champion, K. Rosewell, collected three titles, winning the l;nder-19 singles, the doubles and the mixed doubles..
