Schroeder And Gonzales To Contest U.S. Singles Final

NEW YORK, Sept. 4. The United States Davis Cup singles players Schroeder and Gonzales will light out the national singles title at Forest Hills.
In the semi-finals today, Schroeder beat Talbert 2—6. G—4, 4 —6, 6 —4, 6—4 and C-onzalcs beat Parker 3 —6, 0 7, G—3. o—2.
S'-breeder had a hard battle to defeat Talbert whose precision in the early stages contrasted with Schroeder s erratic stroking.
In the fourth and fifth sets Sehroeder’s well-directed drives and volleys forced Talbert into errors.
Parker won the first set against Gonzales by means of deep lobs which invariably beat bis opponent. Gonzales then began hitting more accurately and v.ori three sets for match. He scored 11 service aces in the second
Miss Doris Hart caused a major upset in the semi-finals of the women's singles by beating the former champion, Miss Louis Brough, 7—5, G—l., In tiie other semi-final, Mrs. Dupont beat Mrs. Hilton, 6—2, C—3.
