MARIST’S 16-6 WIN OVER OLD BOYS IN P.B. RUGBY SERIES

Only one senior match in the second last series of the Premier Cup was played in Gisborne on Saturday under the jurisdiction of the P.B. Rugby Union, Marist defeating Old Boys convincingly—after the socre had been threeall at half-time—by 16 points to six.

This leaves Marist with a oncpoint lead on the championship ladder, from H. 5.0.8. and Celtic. In the other senior match set down for Saturday H. 5.0.8. won by default from Kaiti City, who for the second occasion this season were unable to field a team.

There were a number of surprises in the junior series, two of the leading teams, Old Boys (A) and Y.M.P., being defeated narrowly. The curtain-raiser played on the Oval No. 1 ground between Old Boys (A) and H. 5.0.8. (A) resulted in a last-minute victory for H. 5.0.8., who are now eligible to play Y.M.P. in the curtain-raiser to the Australian match on August 24. H.5.0.8.’s defeat of Y.M.P., Marist’s win over High School and the default of Celtic to Kaiti City completed the junior series.
