STAND BY FEDERATION OF LABOUR
(P.A.) WELLINGTON. Aug. 13. The national executive of the Federation of Labour would not countenance anv organisation involving the federation in its dispute without consultation, said a telegram sent yesterday by the secretary of the New Zealand Federation of Labour. Mr. K. Baxter, to the president of the New Zealand Waterside Workers’ Union, Mr. H. Barnes. Mr. Baxter’s telegram stated that unions affiliated to the federation had reported that bv intimidation tactics an endeavour was being made by the Waterside Workers’ Union to involve them, without consultation with officials of the affiliated unions concerned in the dispute. The telegram added: “The practice of the Federation of Labour is that no organisation should be involved in a dispute without first having been consulted. I therefore desire to point out that mv national executive will not countenance any organisation involving others without consultation.”
