CODE OF CONDUCT FOR U.S. AIRMEN IN BRITAIN

LONDON, Aug. 11

American airmen in Britain have decided on their own rules of conduct, says the Daily Mail. At a special meeting they drew up a code which includes: — 1. Don’t be over talkative and familiar.

2. Keep out of the black markets. 3. Tip sensibly, as lavish tipping antagonises the majority of people here who cannot compete with it. 4. Donu’t grips about rations or currency regulations or protest about the non-American size of food portions—people in this country don’t like it any more than you. 5. Don't judge the whole people by a few anti-American trouble-makers—-if you happen to run into an unfriendly incident, handle yourself with composure. 6. Steer a middle course—neither boast about America nor apologise for it. 7 Remember that Britain’s distinctive character lies in tradition and that its present standard of living is considerably below its normal standards. 8. Don’t flaunt your rations or boast of their quality or price.
