HOUSEWIVES WILL SEEK DIRT-MONEY IF UNIONISED!
(P.A.) DUNEDIN,'Aug. 9. “If housewives ever go for a union, as they may do, then in addition to the varying rates of overtime they will want extra money for keeping the destructor going, danger-money for turning the wringer, wet-money for doing the washing, dirt-money for cleaning Junior's ears out, and so on. until there won’t be enough left to buy a packet of cigarettes,” said Mr. J. C. Robertson, representing the Otago Hospital Board in a case in the Arbitration Court this morning.
Mr. Robertson was discussing the various payments made to unionists. Mr. F. C. Allerby, the workers’ representative on the Court, remarked that perhaps the husband would have to do the work himself. "He has to see his football!” said Mr. Robertson.
