“Woollenised Jute” For Winter Clothing
CALCUTTA,
“Wollenised jute" is suggested by an Indian scientist as being a particularly suitable fabric for the manufacture of winter clothing' intended for wear in this country. , , , Jute can be utilised to the extent of 5 per cent in the production of this material, according to Dr. P. B. Sarkar, who has recently returned after a tour of the IJ.S.A. and the United Kingdom, where he studied the progress being made in those countries in research into new uses for jute and other fibres. The “jute suit” which the_ welldressed Indian may be wearing in some not too distant winter season will not be the first of its kind, however. Dr. Sarkar tells us that during World War II the material used in making uniforms for the French Army consisted half of jute.—U.P.
