AGREEMENT ON AWARD FOR NEW CARPENTERS UNION IN AUCKLAND
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, June 13. Complete agreement was reached in the Conciliation Council between the new Auckland Carpenters and Joiners’ Union and thg building trade employers on an award which will be submitted to the Arbitration Court for ratification. The discussions were held on Friday. Representatives of both sides expressed the opinion that the agreement was the best ever obtained for carpenters in New Zealand. Auckland carpenters will now be on a weekly wage without loss of time through wet weather. Suburban work travelling time will operate from Symonds street with a guarantted minimum of two hours weekly. Country workers 50 miles from home will receive the weekend return fare every two weeks.
