Labour M.P.’s Resent Premiers’ Purge : Censure Of “Rebels”

Sections of the British Parliamentary Labour Party today showed signs of resentment against the » purge of the Prime Minister, Mr. C. J E. Attlee, (jf the Labour rebels yesterday, says the Reuter’s political correspondent.
Some Labour members professed reluctance to step into the shoes of the five men sacked because, in their opinion, they had been harshly treated. They said that other Parliamentary secretaries and national executive members had in the past voted against their leaders and had been forgiven. The Labour leaders today carried a stage further their “iron fist” tactics against the revolt. They decided to send each of the 63 Labour members who voted against the Government on the Ireland Bill a sternly worded letter of censure.
The letter stresses the Importance of the unity in the party and the seriousness of opposing the officiaHine.
