“When I was a teacher £3,000,000 were spent annually on education, said the Minister of Education, Mr- 1. H. McCombs, in Wellington, in addressing the conference of the New Zealand Technical School Teachers Association in Wellington. “Last year, he said, “we spent more than £11,000,000.” . Af He continued that, with the bility of an increase in teachers salaries. new buildings, and the like, expenditure this year might go over the £12,000,000 mark. With the future increase in the number of school children he could imagine £15,000,000 being spent annually on education.
