SAWDUST GREEN LAID FOR P.B. CLUB BOWLERS

An innovation in Gisborne is the laying of a sawdust green for winter play by members of the P.B. Bowling Club. After being ploughed up by a rotary hoe, the green was covered with sawdust and levelled down to a hard surface. Members playing on it during the week-end reported the new green to be true and to give excellent playing conditions.

Games resulted:—Watson, Young. F. Allen. Nalder (s) 18 v. Rothwell, Pickering, J. Alexander, Taylor (s) 17; Harrison, Illingworth, McFarlane (s) 23 v. Fisher, Rothwell, Puddick (s) 20.
