Taking a lead from one of the older residents of the locality who said he would rather fill in the holes than risk having the springs of his car broken by the poor state of the road surface, a voluntary “working-bee” started work on a section of Tukura and Haronga roads yesterday afternoon and made an amateurish but effective attempt at smoothing out some of the rough spots. For a week or more the pot-holes had been enlarging and residents took the first opportunity to solve their difficulties in a practical manner.
