ROCKET RANGE TESTS MADE IN AUSTRALIA

CANBERRA, May 9,

The Prime Minister, Mr. J. B. Chifley, said that “certain trials” had already been carried out on the rocket range at Woomera and that, in conjunction with other countries of the British Commonwealth, Australia was playing a prominent part in defence research.

Australia was greatly indebted to Britain and America for making available as a guide for production in Australia the-' designs of weapons and equipment. The sum of £33,500,000 had already been allotted to defence research and development in Australia.
