ATHLETICS ORGANISER IN N.Z. SCHOOLS: MR. SHARPLEY’S POST
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 10| The appointment of Mr. P. F. Sharpley, of Hawke’s Bay, to the position of organiser of athletics in the physical education branch of the Education Department was announced yesterday. Mr. Sharpley, the co-holder of the New Zealand high hurdles record and professional coach to the Hawke’s BayPoverty Bay Centre of the N.Z.A.A.A. for the past two years, will be stationed in Wellington. His duties, however, will involve travelling throughout the country and he will concentrate upon the development of track and field events in post-primary schools.
Mr. Sharpley completed a specialist course at Loughborough College, England, following the war.
