THREE SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED IN U.S.A. FOR STUDY IN N.Z.
(P.A.I WELLINGTON, May 9. Awards to facilitate teaching and research by three Americans in New Zealand have been approved by the Fulbright Board of foreign scholarships in America with the concurrence of the United States Educational Foundation xn Lew Zealand were announced by the foundation today. .£? r - John H. Davis, junior professor of botany at the University of Florida, has been approved for a visiting professorship grant to enable him to lecture and carry out research at Auck..f University College in association with Dr. V. J. Chapman, professor of botany at Auckland. , D /A J ™ McT - Ploeser and Mr. WilIrea Rail have both been approved for grants to defray travel expenses to accept appointments at the Otago Medical behoof. They arrived in February.
CAUGHT BY WOMEN.—Surprised by two women at the back door of a house he had entered in Epsom and detained until the police arrived, Norman Hugh Nicholson, aged 43, store--ITlan- appeared in the Police Court in Auckland yesterday on five charges of breaking and entering by day and two charges of theft. He pleaded guilty, and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
