MRS. F. E. ALLEN PASSES: LIFE-TIME RESIDENT OF GISBORNE

A resident of Gisborne throughout her lifetime, and the daughter of early settlers in the district, Mrs. Lily Allen, wife of Mr. F. E. Allen, died in New Plymouth on Monday. Born in Gisborne, Mrs. Allen was the second daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Robertson, wellknown early residents of Gisborne. She was educated in Gisborne and later married Mr. Allen, the couple having resided in the Gisborne district ever since. During the past few years Mrs. Allen had not enjoyed the best of health. Of a quiet disposition, Mrs. Allen was a great home-lover and was highly respected by her circle of friends. She is survived by her husband and three daughters, Mrs. A. Ahlin, Mrs. G. Ardern, and Miss Lorna Allen, all of Gisborne- There is also one sister, Mrs. E. F. Esquilnnt, Gisborne. A service was held in Cochrane’s chapel, Williams street, this afternoon, prior to the funeral leaving for the Taruheru cemetery.
