More Smoking, But Less Drinking
(11 a.m.) LONDON, Ap. 6. Summarising the revenue accounts totalling £4,007,000,000, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Sir Stafford Cripps, in his Budget speech, said that smokers contributed an unprecedented £604,000,000 000,000 over the estimate. People drank less and had contributed £418,000,000 000,000 less than estimated.
