SUBURBAN SHOPS: RESTRICTION DELETED
"Under the provisions of the townplanning scheme it is provided that shops in suburban local shopping areas be set back 15ft. from the street frontage, to permit of customers’ vehicles being parked clear of the main thoroughfare,” reported the town-planning committee of the Gisborne Borough Council, at last night’s meeting of the council.
“In the opinion of your committee this is an unnecessary provision, and it is recommended that this proposal be deleted from the scheme, thereby enabling shops in these areas to be erected up to the street frontage." The committee’s recommendation was adopted. ' ‘
