DR. DUNCAN COOK, director of the Division of Health Benefits, Department of Health, is engaged in a tour of East Coast centres. He spent last night at Te Araroa.
MR. D. G. CODY, deputv-ehief postmaster. who has retired after 42 years’ service with the P. and T. Department, was farewelled by officers of the Chief Post Office, Wellington. MR. A. E. MANSFORD, former Mayor of Palmerston North, who underwent an operation in a private hospital some weeks ago, is understood to be making a good recovery. He expects to return home from hospital next week.
DR. A. L. SINGER, in anticipation of his impending early departure on a visit to the United Kingdom, was last night granted leave of absence from meetings of the Gisborne Borough Council from April 20 to August 13.
MR N. Hi BULL, the Mayor, presided at the fortnightly meeting of the Gisborne Borough Council, held last evening, at which were also present Messrs. G. J. Jeunc, G. D, Muirhead, R. Morse, W. Kohn, J. H. Flail, I. J. Ouiglpy, F. Tolerton, and Dr. A. L. Singer.
