NEW SWIMMING CLUB PROPOSED

A request for the use of the Macrae Bath on Tuesday and Wednesday nights each week, for the purposes of a new swimming club now in process of formation, was received at last night's meeting of the Gisborne Borough Council from Mr. J. R. Butler. The writer recognised that Monday nights are the prerogative of the Gisborne Surf and Swimming Club for carnival purposes. In the course of discussion by the council it was stated that members of the existing club use the bath on other nights of the week for practice, and some councillors doubted whether satisfactory arrangements Could be made to grant exclusive practice nights to any club. The matter was referred to the bath committee, for a report.
