Ship Congestion Delays Food For Britain
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, April 4 Shipments of food to Britain will bo affected by the shipping congestion in the port of Auckland. The position shows no sign of easing for at least 10 days. With the arrival of the Federal Line motor-ship Norfolk tomorrow afternoon, three refrigerated vessels will lie idle in the stream. The other two are the Haparangi, which arrived from Wellington yesterday, and the Northumberland, which has completed the discharge of cargo and is waiting to load over 7000 tons of produce for the United Kingdom.
Both the Haparangi and Norfolk have United Kingdom cargoes to discharge before taking on produce.
Their ports of loading have not yet been decided.
Six overseas ships are in the stream awaiting berths. Most should be in at the wharves by the end of the week, but their places will be taken by other vessels.
