(P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, April 4. “The spectacle of Mr. Barnes and Mr. Hill hastening to uphold the authority of the Waterfront Commission will put everybody in good humour,” said the Minister of Labour, Mr. A. McLagan, this morning. “Its farcical aspect will be appreciated by all save, apparently, Mr. Barnes and Mr. Hill themselves. “Can these newly-enrolled defenders of the Waterfront Commission possibly believe that the public already have forgotten their many defiances of the Waterfront Commission’s authority and their repeated refusals to accept its decisions.”
