(P.A.) WELLINGTON, April 5. Commenting upon the statement of the Minister of Labour, Mr. A. McLagan, in which he said that the spectacle of Mr. H. Barnes and Mr. T. Hill, president and secretary respectively of the New Zealand Waterside Workers’ Union, "hastening to uphold the authority of the Waterfront Commission will put everybody in good humour,” Mr. Barnes said:

“We are gratified that it has proved possible to make the Minister laugh when most people have thought that was an impossibility.”
