OPOHO COLLIE CLUB’S SUCCESS: TRIALS AT NUHAKA
Recently, the annual three-day trials of the Opoho Collie Club were brought to a conclusion on Opoho station. Nuhaka. Conditions were favourable for the meeting and officials of the club were completely satisfied with the outcome of the fixture.
The heading events were judged by Mr. Walter Hall, Wharekopae, and the huntaway events by Mr. J. Tombleson, Waimata. The results were:—
Class I.—Long Head, for Glynan Cup (41). —Geo. Maclntyre’s Lass, 42 points, 1: J. O. Harris’ Mike, 41 points, 2: G. Willson's Bess, 40 points, 3; G. Willson’s Ring, 39) points, 4. Class ll.—Short Head and Yard, for Opoho Cup (34)—Geo. Maclntyre’s Zip, 51 points, 1; E. L. Irving’s Mate, 50) points. 2; K. Thom's Boy. 47) points. 3; K. Lambert’s Moss, 43) points, 4. Class 111: —Zig-zag Hunt, for Dryden Cup (34).—T. Lambert’s Tan, 38) points. 1; E. L. Irving’s Cloud 35) points, 2: P. Walker’s Skip, 32) points. 3; M. Ronga’s Mac, 32 points. 4
Class TV:— Straight Hunt, for Papoa Cup (34) —W. Hall’s Bell, 39) points, 1; K. Lambert's King, 36 points, 2: E. L. Irving's Cloud. 34) points, 3; S. Bryson’s Mac, 33 points, 4.
Cups.—Deacon Cup, for competitor under 21 with most points in Classes I and III: D. Maxwell. Seymour Cup, for competitor winning most points in Classes l and 111 with one dog: G. Willson. Reid Cup, for local competitor with most points in Classes I. II and III: Grant Smith. Maclntyre Cup, for competitor from Wairoa County with most points in Class I with maiden dog: J. O Harris' Mike. Agnew Cup, for maiden dog in Class III: M. Rongo’s Mac.
