BROUGHTON IMPRESSES WITH K.O. VICTORY

In knocking out Pat Mclvor. 12st lib, of Hawke’s Bay, in the eighth round of a light-heavyweight boxing contest at Carterton on Saturday afternoon, Russ Broughton, 12st., of Masterton, won his second successive professional fight. It was a most impressive effort. In the earlier rounds Mclvor did well v/ith the in-fighting, but Brougton was later able to stand off and use his right to good effect. Steve Edwards, of Featherston, beat Noel Fitzwater, of Hastings, on points in a professional eight-round welterweight contest. * A good crowd watched the contests, which were held in fine but blustery weather.
