Bottle Of Liquid Taken From Australian Professional Runner

MELBOURNE. Mar. 28

A sensation occurred at the Australian professional foot-running championships when the secretary of the Victorian Athletic League, Mr. J. Bull, took possession of a bottle of liquid from John Stoney, who later won two title events.

Stoney, who is a medical student, told the official he wanted to take the liquid to settle his stomach. He said he did not know what was in the bottle, which was given him by his trainer, J. McNeill.

He added that he was frequently sick after racing. Stoney, who had previously won the 75yds. and 100yds. title events, went on to make a clean sweep of the Australian professional sprint championships by winning the 130yds. and 220yds. events.
