N.Z. MEN ABROAD RALLY TO DEFENCE OF HOMELAND
VANCOUVER, Mar. 28. New Zealanders in Vancouver rushed to the defence of their homeland today following remarks by Gwen Robyns that New Zealand is no place for women. The Vancouver Daily Sun received telephone calls from more than 20 New Zealanders either visiting here or who have made homes here. Here are some quotations:—
Mr. H. W. Chcesemen, Auckland: Women do not work like fury to help their husbands, because their husbands do not work like fury. We have had a 40-hour-week for ,11 years. Mr. L. W. Dunlop, Napier: Domestics are few, but the Government provides free help for families in emergencies. Mr. E, B. Hardie, Palmerston: There are plenty of good cheap foodstuffs in New Zealand, and Vancouver lias twice as many cafes per capita as New Zealand, indicating that New Zealand men are satisfied with their wives’ cooking.
